What Donor Information Is Available To Patients?

Donor Profiles

Profiles give you a lively narrative about the donors, his likes, dislikes, hobbies, skills, education, and general philosophies.

Summary Profiles

Summary profiles are two page summaries of the significant medical and genetic histories of a donor and his family. Of course any perspective donor who had a medical history that would put his offspring at risk would be rejected during the screening process. Any medical or personal updates we receive from the donor are placed in the summary profile.

Personal Profiles

Personal profiles comprise 15 or more pages of detailed personal information about the donor, his siblings, parents and grandparents.  Some of the donor's personal information includes his interests and goals, academic scores, military record, specific facial features and more details about family members.

Medical Profile

Medical profiles provide detailed background medical and genetic family history information on the donor, his siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents.  Medical profiles are approximately 9-12 pages in length and give extensive medical history information including a list of medical conditions in relatives.

Donor Essays

Essays are available on most of our donors. These essays are a series of questions and answers that we hope will tell you a little more about our donors on a personal level. Like each one of you, every donor is different. Some are men of few words, and some we can't stop from talking.

Donor Staff Impressions:

Staff impressions are available on most of our donors. These reports were developed due to numerous requests from patients. Many patients simply wanted to know- "what do you think of this donor?" Staff members who work directly with the donors on a daily basis write our staff impressions; most are written, however a few have staff audio clips talking about the donor.

Donor Portfolios

The 5 page donor portfolio includes a medical/genetic summary of the donor including ancestral background, physical characteristics, health history, personality traits and much more. This portfolio is not available for all donors. They are available by calling Client Services at 1-800-466-2796.

Childhood Photos

Childhood photos are available on most of our donors. Photos of the donor are between 6 months and 6 years of age. Please note that the quality of the baby photos varies depending on the original photo that the donor has supplied to us. Some photos are in color while others are in black and white.

Donor Silhouettes

A profile photograph of the donor has been shaded to show only the line of his side profile. This is a great way to view the adult donor's physical characteristics, yet keep him anonymous. Read more about our silhouettes here.

Audio Interviews

Audio interviews are available on most of our donors. Interviews provide insightful information into the donor's childhood, aspirations, accomplishments, values, family life, and personal interests in his own words. Both the audio interview and the shorter 10-20 second audio clip are downloaded for free.

Lifetime Photos

Lifetime photos which include adult photos are available on a select group of our donors. Donors provide a series of photos from infancy through adulthood. Donors who have Lifetime photos available will be indicated as such on the donor search with a camera icon. For more information about this exciting service click on: Lifetime Photos.

Keirsey Personality Testing

Many of our donors have the results of their Keirsey Temperament Sorter available for a fee.  To read more about the testing and what the results mean, please visit this page to find out more. You can also select to have the testing done yourself and then compare your results to that of the donor.

Photo Matching

Once you've narrowed your donor search down to eight potential donors you may want to request a Photo Match. Simply send us a photo (by mail or e-mail) of the individual you would hope for your offspring to resemble as well as a Photo Match Request Form. Our staff will then rank the resemblance of the donors you've selected. There is a fee for this service.

Donor Selection Consultations

If after using these donor selection services, you're still not quite sure about your choice, feel free to call us. Our staff has walked thousands of patients through this process. We know how difficult choosing a donor can be and can sympathize with what you're going through. Patients use each donor selection resources in their own way. Some feel confident selecting a donor with just the catalog while others may choose to utilize every resource available. A more thorough consultation will generate a fee.

The choice is yours, and there really is no right or wrong way to choose.
